THE GCA Caring at christmas
This December over 25 members of the UKG team helped support The GCA Caring at Christmas campaign by visiting local care homes. The team visited Lydgate Lodge in Batley, Castle Grange in Newsome and Ashworth Grange in Dewsbury. At the visits the team took cards to write, colouring activities, plenty of chocolates and one of our team led carol singing with her guitar. Caring at Christmas is part of The GCA #Cardmitment campaign which aims to share the joy of cards, and reminding everyone about the importance of the very British tradition of connecting with loved ones at Christmas.

If you celebrate Christmas, choosing and decorating the Christmas tree at home can be one of the most magical Christmas traditions each year, but if you have a real tree it can be difficult to know how to dispose of it sustainably and easily in January. The Kirkwood can help with this, their tree-mendous team of volunteers (including some UKG colleagues) will be primed and ready to collection right across the Kirklees area, ensuring no tree is left behind! The trees are taken to be chipped and made in to natural path chippings for country parks and to create new habitats for wildlife. THE GIFT OF GIVING
UKG couldn’t be prouder of our colleagues and their commitment to giving back to those in need this Christmas. Whether it’s bake sales to raise money for local charities, donating pet food to the RSCPA Leeds Bradford or deciding not to do secret santa in teams and instead bringing in presents to donate to the Dewsbury Cares Community group to gift to Children in need at Christmas. Across the business we participated in Christmas Jumper Day to raise funds for Save the Children and our Christmas card sale raised £2500 for Rainbow Baby Bank in Heckmondwike; West Yorkshire Hardship Fund in Dewsbury and Heronbank Cat Rescue.
