It’s that’s time of year again!
Festive films, yummy treats, work parties and last-minute shopping.
And, not forgetting, sending Christmas cards to friends and family.
If you’ve read our previous article about What to Write in a Christmas Card? you should have a pretty good idea of what to put in your cards generally.
But what about those people who mean a bit more? Read on as our editorial team offer some hopefully useful tips!
1) Less can be more
You might be tempted to think that to show someone how much they mean you need to write pages and pages of beautiful poetry. Sometimes just keeping it short and heartfelt works better.
- All I could ever want for Christmas is you.
- Thank you, Mum, for everything.
- Christmas wouldn’t be half as special without you, Grandma.
2) Make it personal
Sounds obvious but make it personal to both the person you’re sending the card to and yourself. Mention your favourite Christmas memories or times you were grateful for them – it’ll mean more and show you’ve really thought about what you’re writing.
- For all the childhood Christmases you made special – thank you.
- From late-night German Markets to curling up on the sofa watching our favourite Christmas film – this time of year means so much now I’m sharing it with you.
- This year has been really hard, so I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your support.
3) Don’t be afraid to write a bit more
Christmas is a time where we really stop and take stock of the important people in our lives and the impact they make. If you find yourself thinking of more and more reasons why they mean so much to you as you’re writing… just keep going.
Even if it seems like an endless list – is that a really a bad thing?
4) Look back over the year
A lot can happen in 12 months so why not pick a couple of things you’ve shared with that person that year to talk about? The good, the bad, or even the funny – make it personal to you both! This really shows that they mean a great deal to you beyond just December!
5) Don’t worry too much
Just remember, no matter what you write, by just sending someone a card you’re already showing them they’re in your thoughts and you care about them.
Because, at the end of the day, that’s what Christmas should be about – spreading festive cheer and reaching out to those we love.
