As the largest direct to retail greetings card publisher in the UK, we believe that sustainable greetings cards are the future and so constantly work to ensure we are doing all we can for the environment.
That being said, we are proud to share that we will not only be supporting the World Land Trust and their Carbon Balanced Paper program once again this year, but we have also increased our commitment! This means that, as the largest non-paper merchant committed to the program, UK Greeting now funds the protection of 1160 acres of land (across Vietnam, Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala) and the 2500 terrestrial species of wildlife who call it home. In addition to this, by continuing to choose Carbon Balanced Paper, UK Greetings will offset a further 13740 tones of carbon!
UK Greetings Head of Safety and Sustainability, Chris Shaw comments “This partnership ensures that the carbon emissions used to produce the paper for every single greeting card, is balanced through the protection of the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre. Since its foundation in 1989, World Land Trust has been instrumental in the purchase and protection of more than 2,222,247 acres of tropical forest and other threatened habitats, and together ensure that more than four million acres of land is managed under active protection worldwide”.
A little closer to home… UK Greetings colleagues took time away from their desks and at one with nature on March 15th, transforming a former landfill site within our local community. The UK Greetings team partnered with Kirklees Council, Park Rangers and Support2Recovery to plant almost 1000 saplings in the Dewsbury Country Park. The planting of these trees will give the area a brand-new lease of life, providing a better environment for our neighbours, colleagues and families.
