UK Greetings Wharf Street car park is to be part of the government’s drive to increase local Coronavirus test centres across Kirklees and the UK.
A walk-through coronavirus testing facility is to open at the Wharf Street Car Park, to the rear of our Mill Street East site, as part of the drive to improve the accessibility of coronavirus testing for local communities on Wednesday, 19th August.
The facility will be open to the general public from 8am to 8pm and will be onsite for a minimum of 4 weeks, potentially more. We are providing this service free of charge, to reflect our commitment to the local community, where sadly we have seen a spike in numbers. We therefore encourage you to spread the word amongst your friends, families and your local community.
“I am proud to say that our site is part of a larger network of diagnostic testing facilities created in British history, including 73 drive-through sites, 36 walk-through sites, 236 mobile units, home testing and satellite kits and five laboratories. Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the UK economy and it’s so very satisfying to slowly witness the community and local businesses in the Dewsbury area getting back into operation.
I was saddened to hear of the news of the increase in cases within Kirklees, particularly Dewsbury and its’ surrounding districts, which is where many of our employees and their families reside. When Kirklees Council approached UK Greetings, to see if we could support them in providing space for an NHS Walk-in Test Centre, we had no hesitations whatsoever in supporting this request. The centres are critical to the community within which we operate. It’s a very busy and bustling town with businesses large and small and having densely populated residential areas. The walk-in centres make it easier for people without cars to get tested too, so we are really hoping that this news is spread far and wide, to make sure those with symptoms get tested”.
